Steven Norris was the Conservative Party's candidate for London Mayor in 2000 and 2004. Before his nomination he was an MP for 14 years and Minister for Transport in London for nearly five. He is a Transport for London Board Member.
Steven is Chairman of Jarvis plc, Saferoad BLG Ltd, AMT-Sybex Group Ltd and Aqueduct Ltd. He is a director of ITIS Holdings plc, Ardmore Construction Ltd, Byrne Estates Ltd, Initiate Ltd and The Internet Corporation Ltd. He is an advisor to a number of companies on infrastructure and planning issues and a regular columnist for Property Week.
A former Director General of the Road Haulage Association and President of the Motorcycle Industry Association, Steven is President of ITS (UK), and Vice President of the National Society for Clean Air. He founded and chaired the National Cycling Strategy Board (now Cycle England) and is a Patron of the national cycling charity, Sustrans. He is Chair of Trustees at Eastside Young Leaders Academy and the London Action Trust.

The Greater London Authority (GLA) is a unique form of strategic citywide government for London made up of the elected Mayor of London, the London Assembly and a team of over 600 staff supporting their work. The GLA has responsibility for:
