François Ortalo-Magné is chairman of the Department of Real Estate and Urban Land Economics at the University of Wisconsin-Madison School of Business, one of the top three real estate programs in the U.S. His research focuses on housing markets with emphasis on housing prices and transactions fluctuations, housing supply regulation, and how the internet is changing the way households buy and sell their homes. Professor Ortalo-Magné teaches undergraduate and MBA courses in Real Estate Finance and International Real Estate. He holds a research fellow position at the Toulouse School of Economics in France and serves as economic advisor to the French government on land use and housing issues. Professor Ortalo-Magné is an academic member of the Association of Foreign Investors in Real Estate (AFIRE); he directs the annual AFIRE Foreign Investment Survey. He holds a PhD in Economics from the University of Minnesota.
